A couple of years ago I had this idea for a comic strip about one Tom Baxter, treasure hunter and Indiana Jones type character in the early thirties of the last century. The twist being of course that this Baxter guy was an idiot who goes “crikey” and “by Jove!” ad nauseam. His nemesis was to be Inspector Dexter, sort of the Bezu Fache of the stories. I also made it a point to have each character’s name end in “xter”, as it seems like every single Brit in the 30s had a name like that. Anyway, the thing never got off the ground — although I did make the above one-pager. Warning before you click through: semi-naked women ahead!

Meta
Whilst lurking about, I saw your first post on the Everyday Matters mailing list and thought I’d stop by for a look-see. I really dig your work. Oddly enough, you and I have some of the same inspirations, like Zappa, Groucho, and R. Crumb, f’rinstance.
Can’t wait to see more — I’ll be browsing.
Yeah it’s weird but Zappa-fans are often Groucho-fans are often Crumb-fans. Now I’m curious to see what kind of stuff you draw! Went over to your site but looks like you just started it up, right? More posts please! :)
